Overview
- On Aug. 16, a mountain lion walked through an open front door in Rancho La Verne, panicked at a family member’s appearance, bolted through a rear screen into the pool and escaped over a fence
- The family’s Ring security camera captured the incident and they shared the footage publicly to warn neighbors as children played nearby
- No one was injured and the family dog, Bandit, remained unharmed and asleep during the encounter
- La Verne police directed the Tenneys to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, which has not reported any capture, relocation or other intervention in this case
- CDFW and the National Park Service continue to urge residents to report sightings, stay calm during encounters and follow established safety guidelines
