Right-Wing Social Media Platform Parler Plans 2024 Relaunch
New Ownership Under PDS Partners Aims for 'Powerful Resurgence' with Enhanced Technology
- Parler, the right-wing social media platform that was taken offline following the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, is planning a relaunch in the first quarter of 2024.
- The platform was recently acquired by PDS Partners, a limited liability corporation consisting of former Parler Chief Marketing Officer Elise Pierotti, new CEO Ryan Rhodes, and others who have chosen to remain anonymous.
- Anti-human trafficking activist Jaco Booyens will serve as the chief strategy officer for the relaunched platform.
- Parler, which had a small user base even among right-wing and libertarian-focused apps, was previously taken offline by Amazon over its unwillingness to remove posts inciting violence.
- The relaunched platform will no longer use Amazon’s cloud service AWS, instead relying on other technology including a 'hyper-scaled private cloud.'
