- Garret Verdun, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot in the head on Nov. 29 in Lafourche Parish around 4 p.m.
- Authorities say Verdun’s partner reported the rifle went off as Verdun passed it over after the pair crossed a cattle guard.
- Officials said the .308-caliber round struck Verdun, and his body was turned over to the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office.
