Ridley Scott Reflects on Lost Opportunities with 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner' Sequels

The iconic director reveals his frustration over not being asked to helm the follow-ups to his landmark films, while gearing up for 'Gladiator II'.

Overview

Scott was not given the chance to direct sequels to 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner' early in his career.
He attributes this to his status as an emerging filmmaker at the time and 'tough partners' in Hollywood.
James Cameron, David Fincher, and Denis Villeneuve directed the sequels to Scott's original films.
Scott eventually returned to the 'Alien' franchise with 'Prometheus' and 'Alien: Covenant'.
He is now directing 'Gladiator II', set for release in November.
