Overview

• RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team responded July 18 to a Capstan Way home after reports of a severely injured woman.
• The 33-year-old victim died at hospital following the incident.
• On July 19, the BC Prosecution Service approved a second-degree murder charge against George Dragnea, who had been in a relationship with the victim.
• Police say there is no ongoing risk to the public and that neither Dragnea nor the victim had a prior history of reported domestic violence.
• Sgt. Freda Fong said officers were “saddened by this tragedy” and will focus on supporting the victim’s family through the prosecution process.
