Overview

  • Kansas City plans to promote Hill after nine Triple-A starts this season, setting up his first big-league outing since 2024.
  • He will tie Edwin Jackson’s mark for most franchises played for when he makes his debut for his 14th team.
  • He becomes one of only five players to appear in the majors at age 45 or older since 2010 and the first to do so since 2018.
  • In 42 innings with the Royals’ Triple-A affiliate this year, Hill posted a 5.36 ERA, a 1.62 WHIP and 61 strikeouts.
  • The move supplements a Royals rotation weakened by injuries to Cole Ragans, Alec Marsh and Michael Lorenzen.
