• The six finalists are Appleby Blue Almshouse, London College of Fashion, Hastings House, Niwa House, AstraZeneca’s Discovery Centre in Cambridge, and the Elizabeth Tower restoration.

• The Elizabeth Tower project used traditional materials to correct earlier errors, repaired Second World War damage, and introduced a visitor lift to improve access.
• Housing-led designs feature strongly, including Appleby Blue’s later-living model, Niwa House as a blueprint for accessible living, and Hastings House as the first home extension on this year’s shortlist.
