RIA and TASS Cite Security Services in Claims About Ukrainian Brigade Commander’s Wealth and Drone-Footage Scheme

The claims are attributed to Russian security services and have not been independently verified.

Overview

  • Russian state-linked outlets reported that Evgeniy Solodaev commands Ukraine’s 57th separate motorized infantry brigade operating in the Kharkiv region.
  • Security services told the outlets that Solodaev’s 2025 declaration lists about 130,000 hryvnias per month in pay for him and roughly 40,000 for his wife.
  • The reports cite a 2018 declaration stating the couple hold more than 10 hectares of land in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region along the Southern Bug river.
  • The same sources allege personnel from the 57th brigade sold residents of Vovchansk drone photos and videos of destroyed homes and say Solodaev protected the operation and received a cut.
  • The outlets also relay claims of Solodaev’s close ties to former president Petro Poroshenko and regular humanitarian deliveries to the brigade, and they do not include responses from Ukrainian authorities or the individuals named.
