A 20-year-old medical student was discovered hanging in her room, prompting an investigation into an unnatural death as police suspect possible links to depression.

The deceased, Ivy Prasad, was a second-year MBBS student at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, living in the ESI Hospital quarters in Kamarhati.
Her mother, a doctor at the same hospital, discovered her body after repeated calls to her daughter went unanswered and she broke into the room.
Police have registered the case as an unnatural death and are investigating; no suicide note was found, and a post-mortem report is awaited.
Authorities suspect depression may have played a role in her death, although no definitive conclusions have been drawn yet.
