RFEF Chief Backs Valencia’s Nou Mestalla as 2030 World Cup Host

He says FIFA will set the final venue list after Málaga’s withdrawal.

Overview

  • RFEF president Rafael Louzán said Valencia “should be there” because the completed Nou Mestalla would be the most modern stadium in Spanish football, subject to meeting requirements.
  • He highlighted that Vigo’s Balaídos is projected to hold about 25,000 after renovation, below FIFA’s minimum of roughly 43,000 for World Cup matches.
  • Louzán stressed that FIFA will determine the final roster of host venues across Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
  • Spain will push to stage the World Cup final, which Morocco also intends to host.
  • Málaga exited the host-city race in July, triggering a search for replacements and renewed scrutiny of the preselection process.
