Revolution Wind Fully Commissioned, Now Supplying Rhode Island and Connecticut

The milestone secures long‑term state power contracts despite a pending federal motion to remand the project's approval for further review.

Overview

  • Ørsted and Skyborn Renewables said Revolution Wind reached full commissioning in October and is actively delivering contracted electricity to the New England grid.
  • The 704 MW farm uses 65 Siemens Gamesa SG 11.0-200 DD turbines and began feeding power to the grid in March before completing turbine installation in September.
  • Under offtake deals the project supplies 400 MW to Rhode Island and 304 MW to Connecticut, a volume expected to power more than 350,000 homes and businesses across the two states.
  • The U.S. Department of Justice and Department of the Interior filed a motion in October asking a federal court to remand the project's construction and operations plan approval, and that request is currently pending in court.
  • Ørsted also reported that Sunrise Wind off New York has finished turbine foundations and is installing turbines and cables with turbine commissioning planned around the end of 2026 and full commissioning targeted in the second half of 2027.
