Revanth Reddy Pushes for Long-Term Flood Solutions After Surprise Inspections

Inspecting flood-affected neighborhoods, the chief minister directed agencies to implement permanent drainage upgrades under close monitoring of a new water-management blueprint.

  • Revanth Reddy and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar toured Ameerpet, Buddhanagar, Maitrivanam and Gangubai Bastikunta today to assess monsoon damage firsthand.
  • At Buddhanagar, officials were ordered to lower and widen a drainage canal that had been built above street level and narrowed by encroachments.
  • In Gangubai Bastikunta, the chief minister ordered a permanent special trunk line to prevent illegal filling and parking from obstructing waterways.
  • Prabhakar urged GHMC, HYDRAA and the Hyderabad water board to adopt rainwater harvesting as a civic duty and to draft a comprehensive citywide water-management plan.
  • State agencies including GHMC, HMWS&SB and HYDRAA have been mobilized under stringent oversight to execute lasting infrastructure fixes and break the cycle of flooding.
