ONE confirmed that heavyweight champion Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane was in a serious car crash in the United Arab Emirates and is out of the Nov. 16 co-main event in Tokyo.
The title rematch with Anatoly Malykhin is postponed, and officials have not disclosed the extent of Kane’s injuries or a new date.
Kane won the belt by split decision over Malykhin at ONE 169, becoming the promotion’s first African world champion.
ONE 173 will continue with a 17-bout lineup that includes multiple world-title fights across MMA, Muay Thai, kickboxing, and submission grappling.
The event still features Superbon vs. Masaaki Noiri for featherweight kickboxing unification, along with Christian Lee vs. Alibeg Rasulov and Joshua Pacio vs. Yuya Wakamatsu.
