Overview

  • Mary Notarangelo last texted a friend on June 12, 2024, reporting abdominal cramps, vomiting and a fall before a welfare check was requested on July 3
  • Glastonbury police and firefighters conducted multiple searches between July and November 2024 but were blocked by six-foot piles of trash, dead birds, live mice and other hazards
  • On February 24, 2025, an environmental services crew used a small excavator to clear the front entrance debris and found her skeletal remains within minutes
  • Officials described the hoarding as among the worst they had encountered, noting disabled drones, tangled cobwebs and overwhelming stench hampered earlier searches
  • Notarangelo served on the Bridgeport Police Department from 1985 until her 1996 disability retirement and was remembered by friends as a dedicated detective and animal lover
