Overview

• Colonel Rajneesh Soni, a retired Army officer from Gurugram, was blackmailed, assaulted, and robbed by a woman he met on a matrimonial website in January 2025.
• The woman lured him to Mathura under the pretense of marriage and, with accomplices, forced him into a car where he was physically assaulted and held hostage.
• The perpetrators filmed explicit videos of the colonel at gunpoint, threatened to release them, and extorted money from his relatives and friends.
• The group also stole his phone, gold chain, debit card, and Rs. 12,000 in cash during the ordeal.
• Barsana police have registered an FIR under multiple IPC sections, including extortion and criminal intimidation, and are actively investigating, but no arrests have been made yet.
