Overview

  • After selling out within minutes of opening in April and canceling some orders, retailers including Amazon UK, EE and Walmart have begun restocking limited Nintendo Switch2 units for in-store and online purchase before the June 5 release.
  • Major U.S. chains such as Target and Best Buy will open at midnight launch day, using ticketing systems and one-console-per-customer rules to manage crowds.
  • The Switch2 features a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD touchscreen with 120Hz variable refresh rate in handheld mode, 4K/60fps docked output, 256GB internal storage and redesigned Joy-Con controllers with an added ā€˜C’ button.
  • New social tools GameChat enable voice and video chat for up to 12 players, while GameShare lets groups play multiplayer using a single copy of a game.
  • Nintendo forecasts selling 15 million Switch2 units in its first fiscal year and has shifted production to Vietnam and Cambodia to reduce exposure to U.S. tariffs.
