Overview

• Modesto police detained Angel Cabrera, 18, and Christian DiazSilva, 19, on Sept. 26 after Target loss-prevention flagged alleged theft at the Sisk Road store.
• Detectives learned Cabrera was wanted in Salinas in a Sept. 19 double shooting on Cross Avenue that killed a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy and wounded another 17-year-old.
• Salinas police identified Cabrera as the suspected driver and say he faces homicide, attempted homicide and gang-enhancement allegations before being booked into the Monterey County Jail.
• Salinas police separately arrested 18-year-old Marwuy Camacho as the suspected shooter, and Monterey County Jail records list bail for Cabrera and Camacho at $14,230,000.
• Modesto released body-camera video of the detention, returned the stolen merchandise to the retailer, and noted a reported 22% drop in city property crimes this year with zero homicides.
