Overview
- Thieves broke into the Montauban site overnight from September 15 to 16, forced an office, took the keys and stole an adapted distribution van, then emptied freezers and fridges of about 600 prepared meals.
- The stolen vehicle was specially fitted and financed by the Tarn-et-Garonne departmental council, the Occitanie region and the French state to serve isolated areas without local centers.
- The site had no cameras or alarm, and identity-forensics technicians from the Montauban police examined the premises with no significant leads disclosed so far.
- Restos du Cœur filed a formal complaint, and volunteers maintained scheduled rounds using an older truck and existing stock.
- This is the second incident this year after April break-ins that caused about €6,000 in losses, and the charity is seeking one-day volunteers for the October 4 departmental collection.
