Restored Kotwal House Returns to Hyderabad Police as Active Commissioner’s Office

The Nizam-era structure funded by Greenko Group’s ₹2.6 crore CSR initiative has been handed over to police to host weekly public interactions every Friday.

Overview

  • The 125-year-old Kotwal House at Purani Haveli was re-inaugurated on July 9, 2025 by Hyderabad In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
  • Work began in May 2023 under an agreement between Commissioner C. V. Anand and Deccan Terrain Heritage to address damaged load-bearing walls, terrace leaks and decayed wooden beams using traditional lime mortar and masonry.
  • Chalamalasetty Anil Kumar of Greenko Group financed the restoration with a ₹2.6 crore corporate social responsibility allocation.
  • The refurbished building now includes a CP cabin, a waiting room, a conference room and a DCP office to support policing operations in the old city.
  • Commissioner Anand announced he will be available for public interaction every Friday at the Kotwal House to strengthen community engagement.
