Overview
- The four-car unit ran its first works test between Halberstadt and Blankenburg and was later seen at Wernigerode station.
- Project leaders plan further test, acceptance and training runs with the aim of carrying passengers in the second quarter.
- Electrical and brake faults uncovered last year had paused progress but have been addressed to enable line testing.
- The overhaul is being carried out by VIS in Halberstadt on a unit leased from the DB Museum in Nuremberg, supported by about 80 volunteers.
- After re-entry to service, the group intends to operate roughly 40–50 special and charter trips per year to fund ongoing maintenance and inspections.
