Resident Rescues Snowmobiler After Bush Lake Ice Breaks in Holly Township

  • A 36-year-old rider went through the ice around 2:30–2:40 p.m. Sunday near the 800 block of Holly Bush Drive on Bush Lake in Oakland County.
  • Holly resident Wade Wines reached the man with ice picks and a rope and hauled him onto the surface as officers arrived preparing a kayak for a potential rescue.
  • The rider, identified by WXYZ as Adam Brewer, was transported to a hospital with moderate hypothermia, broken ribs and bruised lungs.
  • The Oakland County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team later recovered the submerged snowmobile after the man was safely out of the water.
  • Holly police credited residents for their quick action and repeated warnings that no ice is safe ice, noting multiple recent ice rescues in the county.
