Overview
- Two sailors issued a distress call around 18:30 on Saturday after grounding about one kilometre west of Norderney shortly after low tide.
- Waves up to 1.5 meters and winds at Beaufort 4–5 battered the hull and pushed the vessel toward a lee shore.
- DGzRS dispatched a rescue cruiser and a smaller boat, established a tow line in shallow surf, and pulled the yacht into deeper water.
- Rescuers detected a hull leak, used pumps to control flooding, and towed the damaged boat safely into Norderney harbor.
- Both sailors were brought to safety, with one person suffering seasickness handed over to onshore emergency medical services.
