Rescue Teams Locate Four of Eight Workers Trapped in Telangana Tunnel Collapse

Ground-penetrating radar identified four individuals trapped under debris, but their chances of survival are described as remote.

Eight workers, including engineers and operators, have been trapped since February 22 following a roof collapse in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool, Telangana.
Rescue teams have located four individuals using ground-penetrating radar; they are trapped 5-8 meters beneath debris near the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).
Efforts to rescue the workers involve over 500 personnel from 11 specialized agencies, including the Army, Navy, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Challenging conditions, including water, slush, and the need to dismantle parts of the TBM, have complicated the rescue operation, now in its eighth day.
State officials have indicated that the chances of survival for the located workers are slim, and operations continue to locate the remaining four individuals.
