Higgins' comments were in response to Smith issuing a warrant requesting lists of users who have interacted with Trump's posts on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Despite Higgins stating that conservatives should only fight peacefully, many critics interpreted his remarks as a threat against Smith.
Higgins has previously faced criticism for confronting FBI Director Christopher Wray with conspiracy theories about the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol building and for physically removing a Medicare activist from a press conference.
