Report: Oregon Quarterback Austin Novosad Plans to Enter Transfer Portal

The redshirt sophomore with two years of eligibility moves on after falling to third on the depth chart.

Overview

  • ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Dec. 27 that Austin Novosad intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
  • Novosad played in one game in 2025, attempted two passes including a 40-yard completion, and is 12-of-15 for 99 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions across seven career games.
  • Dante Moore won the starting job, and when Moore left a game in October with a broken nose, walk-on Brock Thomas and redshirt freshman Luke Moga saw time ahead of Novosad.
  • A four-star, ESPN300 recruit from Dripping Springs, Texas, Novosad originally flipped from Baylor to Oregon after Will Stein joined the Ducks’ staff.
  • His expected exit would be Oregon’s eighth transfer-portal departure this offseason, leaving Thomas, Moga and Akili Smith Jr. in the quarterback group.
