Report: Apple’s AI Smart-Home Roadmap Targets 2026 Displays, 2027 Robot

Apple’s prototypes run a new multiuser Charismatic OS powered by a revamped Siri that could use either in-house or partner AI engines.

Overview

  • Apple is working on a streamlined smart-display hub (code-named J490) for a 2026 debut, offering home controls, media playback and video calls.
  • A battery-powered security camera system (code-named J450) with facial recognition and infrared sensors is planned for a similar 2026 timeframe.
  • The centerpiece tabletop robot (code-named J595) features a 7-inch screen on a motorized arm to track users and interject in conversations, targeting 2027.
  • All these devices run on a new multiuser Charismatic OS and lean on an overhauled, personality-driven Siri for voice-first interaction.
  • Apple has declined to confirm the unannounced lineup and is still weighing whether Siri will run on its own large language models (Linwood) or third-party models (Glenwood).
