Overview

  • Express bus service has been extended through July 15, running every 30 minutes without intermediate stops and covering the route in about 1 hour 20 minutes.
  • Regular RE6 RegionalExpress trains continue to operate on their unchanged timetable alongside the replacement buses.
  • The extension was agreed with the Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen to relieve persistent peak-hour congestion on the heavily burdened line.
  • Delayed deliveries of modern battery trains have necessitated the use of replacement double-deck coaches, which have introduced their own operational challenges.
  • MRB is reviewing multiple long-term capacity and fleet options in coordination with transport authorities to address chronic cancellations, delays and overcrowding.
