Repeat Cocaine Courier Jailed After 120mph M5 Pursuit and 36kg Drug Seizure

  • West Midlands Police’s specialist Road Crime Team deployed stinger devices and unmarked interceptor vehicles to box in Sherratt’s Peugeot 3008 on the M42 near Alvechurch after a 120mph chase on the M5.
  • Officers found two Sports Direct bags in the car boot containing a total of 36 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated wholesale value of up to £1.3 million.
  • Messages recovered from Sherratt’s damaged phone revealed he had arranged collection of an additional 135 kilograms of cocaine worth up to £5 million and earned about £200 per kilo delivered.
  • David Sherratt, 48, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession with intent to supply the drug, and dangerous driving.
  • He has 12 convictions for 19 offences since 1995, including previous drug-supply sentences in 2016 and 2020, and is now serving a 12-year, nine-month term under Operation Target tactics.
