Overview
- The sword will land at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 10 a.m. tomorrow where Adv. Ashish Shelar will formally receive it, pay homage at the Shivaji statue and lead a bike rally and chariot procession to the P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy.
- At 6 p.m. the ‘Sena Saheb Subha Parakram Darshan’ ceremony will see Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurate the exhibition alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
- A week-long public display opens August 19 at the academy’s art gallery from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, featuring the sword and interpretive exhibits on twelve historic forts with free entry.
- The Firangi blade, featuring a gold-inlaid Mulheri hilt and Devanagari inscription, was traced to the ndia India Company’s 1817 looting of the Nagpur Bhonsle treasury and acquired at a London auction for ₹47.15 lakh.
- Shrimant Mudhoji Raje Bhonsle, a descendant of Raghuji Bhonsle, will attend the airport reception and exhibition events along with senior cultural affairs and museum officials.
