Repairs on HagenWuppertal ICE Corridor to Stretch Into Next Week

Single-track operations after sleeper damage are causing longer journeys alongside curtailed regional service.

  • Deutsche Bahn now expects the track repairs between Schwelm and Hagen to run until early next week after urgent sleeper replacements were deemed necessary.
  • ICE routes from Cologne to Berlin and Hamburg face 10–30 minute delays, with some long-distance trains rerouted via the Ruhr and skipping Solingen, Wuppertal and Hagen.
  • Regional line RE7 terminates at Wuppertal-Oberbarmen with replacement buses toward Hagen, while RE4 and RE13 are being dispatched on a trip-by-trip basis.
  • A separate signal fault between Neuss and Mönchengladbach on Tuesday intensified delays for lines RE4, RE13 and S8.
  • On Monday evening, recovery of a stalled regional train between Essen and Bochum was delayed when a rescue locomotive struck an E-scooter on the track, keeping the line blocked for about four hours.
