Overview
- Deutsche Bahn reported the defective signal box at Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof was repaired by late morning, with services returning to planned routes and replacement buses withdrawn, though isolated delays may persist.
- A faulty switch between Düsseldorf Hbf and Düsseldorf-Rath was also fixed around 09:30, removing an additional bottleneck that had halted traffic on that section.
- During the NRW disruption, S-Bahn lines S1 and S6 were truncated at Düsseldorf Hbf, RE1 trains were rerouted via Neuss and Dormagen with missed stops in the Düsseldorf area, and long-distance trains skipped Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen and Bochum with temporary stops in Wuppertal and Hagen.
- Schienenersatzverkehr was deployed with named operators and fleets, including Haniqi on S1, Univers Reisen and Haniqi on S6 between Düsseldorf Hbf and Köln-Mülheim, and Rainer between Kettwig and Düsseldorf Hbf.
- Separately in Saxony, a freight train damaged the overhead line at Riesa, stopping most long-distance traffic between Leipzig and Dresden, with repair trains dispatched and a rail-bus-rail detour via Oschatz and Priestewitz as the fix is expected into the late afternoon.
