Wilson's son, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, reported that he was able to speak with his father and expressed gratitude for his stable condition.
Wilson, a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has represented South Carolina's 2nd Congressional District since 2001.
Known for his 'You lie!' outburst during President Obama's 2009 address to Congress, Wilson is seeking reelection this November against Democrat David Robinson II.
