Overview
- Multiple motorists stopped on I-35 near Osceola, Iowa, and improvised tourniquets from socks, seatbelts and a windshield wiper to control the boy’s severe bleeding.
- Van Orden, a former Navy SEAL, used a knife to cut seatbelts and worked alongside a bystander who identified as a medic as first responders arrived about 10–15 minutes later.
