Overview

• The DMK confirmed her death on Tuesday in Chennai after an illness, following treatment at Apollo Hospital on Greams Road.
• She was the spouse of party treasurer and former Union minister T.R. Baalu and the mother of Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa.
• Her body was moved to the D. Nagar residence for public homage, with final rites scheduled at 5 p.m. at the Besant Nagar Electric Crematorium.
• Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin visited and laid wreaths, conveying condolences to the family.
• Tributes also came from Congress leader K. Selvaperunthagai, MDMK’s Vaiko, ministers E.V. Velu, Ma. Subramanian and Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, DMK’s R.S. Bharathi, BJP leaders Nainar Nagenthiran and Tamilisai Soundararajan, and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss.
