- Emmy-winning TV director Robert Butler, known for his work on 'Batman', 'Star Trek', and 'Hill Street Blues', passed away on November 3, 2023, in Los Angeles at the age of 95.
- Butler's career spanned nearly five decades, during which he directed many notable series, including 'Hennesey', 'The Dick Van Dyke Show', 'Bonanza', 'The Twilight Zone', 'Gunsmoke', 'Hawaii Five-O', and more.
- He co-created the detective procedural series 'Remington Steele', starring Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist, which ran from 1982 to 1987 on NBC. He also directed several feature films and TV movies.
- Butler was a valued member of the Directors Guild of America, serving 11 consecutive terms on the DGA National Board starting in 1985. He was honored with the Robert B. Aldrich Achievement Award in 2001 and the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished achievement in television direction in 2015.
