Overview

  • The €38.16 million renovation exceeded its initial budget by €5.3 million and completes three years of work on the avenue.
  • Sidewalks have been expanded to more than four metres in width and traffic lanes have been reduced from five to three.
  • An uphill lane has been designated exclusively for buses, taxis and vehicles registered in specific adjacent neighborhoods and will be monitored by automatic license-plate cameras after summer.
  • From June 30, bus line 47 will resume service along Via Laietana, reconnecting Barceloneta with the Eixample district.
  • A public festival on June 29 will kick off the avenue’s full reopening and work on the nearby Fusteries and Àngel Baixeres streets will proceed into autumn.
