- Reniec now offers a full online process to replace a lost or stolen blue DNI with an electronic card, as long as the original document is still valid.
- Applicants pay a S/30 fee through Págalo.pe, Yape, Banco de la Nación or BCP agents, or by card within the online form.
- Identity is verified with the DNI Biofacial app on an Android phone, then the user completes the request on a laptop and selects a pickup office.
- Progress is tracked on Reniec’s website, and pickup happens at the chosen office once the status shows 100 percent, where a six‑digit PIN is set to activate the digital signature and can later be reset for free at an agent with fingerprints and the card’s CAN code.
- Carabayllo is running free e‑DNI issuance on Wednesdays in May for residents under 17 or over 60 at the San Pedro municipal agency, with 50 tickets handed out by order of arrival from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
