RENIEC Opens Jan. 2–3 Special Service and Lowers DNIe Fee to S/30 Ahead of April Elections

The push targets roughly 2.0 million voters listed with expired IDs to ensure documents are valid on election day.

Overview

  • RENIEC is providing exceptional in-person service nationwide on January 2 (approx. 8:45 a.m.–4:45 p.m.) and January 3 (approx. 8:15 a.m.–12:45 p.m.) for DNI procedures and pickups only.
  • The electronic DNI costs S/30 under a promotional rate in force through April 12, 2026, formalized by Jefatural Resolution No. 000217-2025.
  • The JNE’s approved roll shows 2,001,447 electors with expired DNIs; voting with an expired document is not allowed, but any DNI renewed and valid on April 12 will be accepted.
  • For the special dates, RENIEC instructs weekend and holiday payments via Yape or Agente BCP with a pre-generated ticket, and it has published office lists and schedules by region.
  • RENIEC authorized 470,000 free DNIe in 2026 for priority groups, including children 0–16, newborns in Minsa and EsSalud centers, people in poverty, persons with disabilities, organ donors, and certain Armed Forces and National Police personnel.
