- The service was activated from October 1 and runs until 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, allowing people who lost or had their DNI stolen to request a duplicate and collect it within 24 hours.
- Requests must start online through Reniec’s portal and use DNI BioFacial 3.0 for first‑time DNIe migrations or ID Perú for DNIe duplications to verify identity by facial recognition.
- Pickup is limited to 27 designated Reniec offices across Lima, Callao and 11 regions, and regional centers report printed DNI stock ready for collection, for example about 20,000 documents in Junín.
- Fees are set at S/30 for first‑time conversion from the old blue DNI to the DNIe and S/33 for DNIe duplicates, with payment completed by generating a ticket on Reniec’s platform and paying via Yape.
- Reniec also allows expired DNIs to be used only for voting in these elections, a temporary step that protects the right to vote without changing the document’s legal validity for other procedures and ties to the broader rollout of the DNIe 3.0.
