Overview
- Reniec has activated 33 campaign centers operating in January and February 2026 to issue, renew, duplicate, or update data on the DNI electrónico at no cost.
- Priority beneficiaries are children and adolescents, older adults, and people with disabilities, with Reniec projecting about 50,000 free procedures in the two-month window and broader reach during 2026.
- Citizens can check exact locations, dates, and hours on Reniec’s website and official channels; services are delivered in municipal venues, schools, churches, parks, and other community sites.
- The DNIe 3.0 is now the only ID Reniec issues, replacing blue and yellow versions, and features a cryptographic chip, QR validation, and up to 64 security elements.
- Collection of the DNIe is strictly in person due to biometric and digital-signature setup, some civil-status changes still require in-person processing, and Reniec’s online tools allow verification and certified copies of records (around S/12), while standard DNI data updates carry published fees with exemptions for permanent disability.
