Overview
- The authorization, published via Resolución Jefatural N.° 000213-2025 in El Peruano, runs from the first business day of January through December 31, 2026, and covers 470,000 electronic IDs.
- Eligibility includes children 0–16 (with newborns attended in Minsa and EsSalud hospitals), people in poverty or extreme poverty needing photo updates, adult organ donors, armed forces and police tied to 2026 electoral operations, and people with disabilities.
- Reniec says the plan requires no additional Treasury funds and may expand the number of free transactions if budget permits, while maintaining free birth and death registrations in hospital-based auxiliary offices and allowing exceptional free changes to DNIe delivery location.
- Digital payments now accept Yape and Agentes BCP: users generate a Reniec payment ticket with a unique 14‑digit code and complete payment in Yape under Services > Trámites y Tributos > Reniec or present the code at BCP agents for more than a dozen procedures including renewals, duplicates and first issuance.
- Service modernization also includes an online tracker showing statuses from INICIADO to ENTREGADO and the BioFacial app to update photos and renew remotely, with fees of S/30 for the blue DNI and S/41 for the DNIe and no printed photo required from age 7.
