Overview
- Reniec activated the exceptional DNI exprés service on Thursday, October 1, and will run it until 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 4 to ensure lost or stolen ID holders can vote in the Regional and Municipal Elections.
- The service is limited to duplicates for loss or theft and guarantees issuance within 24 hours at 27 designated Reniec agencies across Lima, Callao, Cajamarca, Lambayeque, Áncash, La Libertad, Ayacucho, Huánuco, Ica, Loreto, Ucayali, Puno, Tacna and Arequipa.
- All applications must be made online through Reniec’s portal with identity verification done by mobile apps: DNI BioFacial 3.0 for DNI azul holders migrating to the electronic DNI and ID Perú for existing DNIe duplicates.
- Fixed fees apply and are paid via Yape after generating a Reniec payment ticket, with S/30 for first-time DNIe issuance from DNI azul and S/33 for a DNIe duplicate; applicants must check their online status before going to pick up the card.
- The move aims to protect voter access immediately before the vote and follows Reniec’s broader push to issue the electronic DNI, which includes extended pickup hours and thousands of ready-to-collect IDs in regional offices.
