Overview
- From 8 September, Avlo ticket sales on the corridor will cease and the route will run exclusively with AVE‑103 trains on the same schedules and frequencies.
- A routine July check detected a fissure in an S106 bogie, prompting the withdrawal of five Avlo units that will not return; four served Madrid–Barcelona and one continued to Figueres.
- Customers holding Avlo tickets will be rebooked onto AVE at the same price, with Renfe highlighting larger seats and more space as an upgrade.
- New bookings will be for AVE services that generally cost more than Avlo, though Renfe says advance purchase can yield competitive fares.
- Renfe says other corridors are unchanged, Ouigo is now the only low‑cost operator on Barcelona–Madrid and Iryo positions its offer between budget and AVE as Talgo’s train reliability faces continued scrutiny.
