Renault Kwid Facelift Spied in India, Latest Images Hint at ICE Over EV

Renault has not confirmed the powertrain or timing for the updated hatchback.

Overview

  • Fresh spy photos published on September 30 show a heavily revised Kwid test car on Indian roads with clear exterior and cabin changes.
  • The prototype carries Y-shaped LED DRLs, pentagonal halogen headlamps, a new Renault badge, reworked tail lamps and bumpers, and Dacia Spring–like styling cues.
  • Interior shots reveal a larger touchscreen (reportedly around 10 inches), a new steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, and reports suggest safety and tech upgrades such as six airbags are expected.
  • A visible exhaust in multiple images points to an ICE facelift under evaluation, with several outlets reading this as continuation of petrol power, though Renault has issued no confirmation.
  • If the petrol model continues, reports expect the existing 1.0-litre engine with 5-speed manual and AMT to carry over, while separate coverage describes the mule as a Dacia Spring–based EV with unconfirmed specs referenced from that model.
