Renault 5 Electric Named European Car of the Year 2025

The Renault 5 and its Alpine A290 variant won the prestigious award, marking a second consecutive victory for Renault at the Brussels Auto Show.

The Renault 5 electric vehicle, along with its sporty Alpine A290 version, was awarded European Car of the Year 2025 by a jury of 60 automotive journalists.
This marks Renault's second consecutive win, following the Scenic electric's victory in 2024, a feat previously achieved only by Fiat in 1995-1996.
The Renault 5, manufactured in Douai, France, received 353 points, significantly ahead of the Kia EV3 (291 points) and the Citroën C3 (217 points).
The award ceremony was held at the Brussels Auto Show, replacing the now-defunct Geneva Motor Show as the venue for the announcement.
Renault's leadership highlighted the car's innovative design and its role in advancing electric vehicle adoption with a starting price of €27,990.
