Uscins, 22, was recognized after winning a silver medal with the German national team at the 2024 Paris Olympics during his first full year at the top level.
Smits played a pivotal role in her team’s success, including reaching the Champions League final with SG BBM Bietigheim, her club’s predecessor.
The Handball Player of the Year awards have been given annually since 1978, with Andreas Thiel holding the record for the most wins at seven.
