• Investigators from the Alpine Einsatzzug found that the wooden cross sawed into pieces between July 30 and August 2 was part of a planned municipal renewal rather than vandalism.
• Schliersee resident Karl Hiermeyer and fellow volunteers had notified the municipality weeks earlier about the need to replace the rotting summit marker.
• An oak cross sponsored by local timber suppliers and crafted by community carpenters will be installed on Rohnberg on Wednesday, August 6.
• Diakon Alois Winderl will lead a small blessing ceremony for the new summit cross in the week following its installation.
• The Schliersee Bauhof has agreed to fabricate and install a new bench on the Rohnberg summit to complete the landmark’s renewal.
