• Sunshine State Sonar located a submerged white Ford Fusion on Oct. 2 at 900 Peninsula Corporate Circle and alerted Boca Raton police.
• Officers recovered the vehicle with skeletal remains, which the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner confirmed as MacKrell using dental records from Fort Lauderdale police.
• MacKrell, 25, vanished on July 30, 2015 after leaving Lucky's Tavern in Fort Lauderdale and later stopping at a Valero in Pompano Beach.
• Surveillance from the Valero showed a dispute with occupants of another vehicle, and by 2019 Fort Lauderdale police said they had exhausted leads after searching nearly 200 waterways.
• Authorities ask anyone with information about MacKrell’s movements that night to contact Fort Lauderdale police or Broward County Crime Stoppers.
