Overview

  • The Maynards disappeared in August 2024 after their 28-foot aluminum boat capsized about 16 miles west of Homer and the U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search after 24 hours.
  • In April 2025 three private Alaskan companies volunteered sonar and remotely operated vehicle support to renew the underwater search.
  • Early May operations located the vessel in 180 feet of water in Kachemak Bay and state divers recovered three sets of human remains on May 27 and 28.
  • The recovered remains have been transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies and formal identification.
  • The missing include parents David and Mary Maynard and their sons Colton, 11, and Brantley, 8, who were on vacation from Troy, Texas.
