Overview
- Two SANDF Military Police members were swept away on December 25 while crossing a flooded section of the Komati/Nkomazi River during Operation Corona near Komatipoort.
- One soldier’s body was recovered on December 26, and human remains discovered on December 29 near the border are suspected to be those of the second member, with an inquest opened for DNA confirmation.
- Police said only a human head has been recovered so far, and forensic teams are working with a pathologist to identify the remains before families are briefed.
